1. Writing exercises are due at the beginning of your section meeting, and they are intended to provide a basis for your section discussions.
2. Writing exercises should be submitted in hard-copy. Please print double-spaced on one side only, with at least 1″ margins. Make sure that your name and that of your section TA appear at the top.
3. We do not grade individual exercises, although you will be penalized for late or missing submissions. However, we will read them, mark them with suggestions and reactions, and return them at the next section meeting. Your section TA will retain a copy of all exercises, which will compose a folder of your workshop writing and course essay work.
4. If you miss more than two of these sessions in the term, you will be ineligible for a workshop section grade higher than C. If you miss more than three of these sessions, you will be ineligible for a section grade higher than D. If you miss four or more sessions, you will receive a section grade of F. There are no excused absences from section; I am giving you two “free passes” in advance so that you can plan your schedule and have margin for emergencies.
5. Even if you are absent from a workshop session, you are responsible for the writing assignment that is due for that session. This assignment must be handed in by the following Monday at class time to avoid penalty. If any of your section assignments are not handed in by the following Monday, you will be ineligible for a section grade higher than B. If two of your section assignments are not handed in by the following Monday, you will be ineligible for a section grade higher than C. If more than two assignments are late, you will be ineligible for a section grade higher than C. If any assignments are not handed in (on time or late), you will automatically receive a section grade of F.
6. The Bass Writing Center and Yale College limit enrollments in WR course sections to 15, so please note that we cannot permit switching among sections for make-ups during the term.
